Teen Witch: The Occult Cult

I have an interest in fiction.  The fiction I'm referring to is the supernatural.  Take offense if you must, but there's no evidence of ghosts, demons, or anything so fantastical.  I love anthropology; I've studied it for years.  I've come to learn a lot from it and in this case I take an anthropologist's prospective in studying the occult.  I think like a fantasy novel, it's something interesting and alluring; something so imaginative and creative, but not based in reality.

I love fashion blogs, Etsy, Rookie mag, and any ethnographic research on the different supernatural religions.  I find myself on the internet a lot studying the subcultures of witches.  The cult phenomenon of witches has to do with what people make of the supernatural.  Some people are true believers, they follow a religion.  Others it's a passing fancy.  I find the people in the middle, the unsure, the most interesting.  The people who have play seances and use Ouija boards but don't hold firm beliefs to it.  I love the idea of a Ouija board because it isn't serious and con notates a free spirit view of the supernatural.

Using a Ouija board is a group activity and a fun one at that.  Even though the findings aren't impartial they are enticing.  Ouija boards have been proven to not work in the supernatural sense, but as a fantastical aspect of witchcraft  they are endearing. It is a fantastical and amazing idea that there could be a board used to contact a deceased person or a being from a different reality. The idea can bring a person a feeling of comfort and fullness that there is indeed an existence after death.  Besides the basic spirituality, there is a different cultural aspect to the practice,  the idea of linear universe.  A universe where many realities can exist at once. This idea pries at what it is to be human, what it is to be alive.  But to cut through the philosophical concepts, the occult cult is accessible and easy to study.  If you're interested, delve into a book, read an article on Rookie, buy a Ouija board, and display you're beliefs on your sleeve, because if nothing else aren't these ideas interesting enough to share?
